When you live in a big city like Berlin, it can happen from time to time that you just need some hours off. Off from the noisy, dirty and bustling metropolis. For that reason I took the train and after less than an hour I was in a completely different world.
I followed the recommendation I got from a fellow also Berlin based instagram user, who told me that it is magnificent around Kloster Chorin, an old abbey from the 13th century. When I arrived in the tiny place called Chorin I suddenly had the feeling of being a time traveller. The roads and houses and everything looked pretty much like from an old film about the DDR or something. Run-down, forgotten, but still charming somehow.
The march towards the abbey was pretty beautiful, just as I have been told. The forests colours were still bursting in autumn red and orange, and I met some friendly strangers on the way.
The abbey itself was partly under construction, so I didn’t attend to explore it from inside. The outside was impressing enough anyway. The real surprise was the lake on the back side, which was probably the highlight of the whole trip.
Anyway, I left after two hours or so due the immense feeling of hunger in my belly. Nevertheless it was a great trip and alternation to the everyday life in the big, crowded city.
