EARTH HOUR 2017 – #keepcitieswild

Last month I asked the WWF Germany if they had any idea about an enviromental topic that I could document with my camera. And indeed they had a great idea.

On 25th March there will be hold the annual Earth Hour, where people all over the world switch off their lights for an hour the same evening. The topic of the Earth Hour 2017 is #keepcitieswild. The reason for that is that 70% percent of Germany’s population live in cities and also over 70% of the worldwide emissions come from there. That is in fact a problem and an opportunity at the same time. Many chances where we all could make a difference.

The idea behind #keepcitieswild is to show the wild and natural places inside these cities. Places that are important for the habitants to recover and therefore should be protected. But I also tried to find some abandoned and forgotten places, places that really could use better treatment.
